Geotechnical engineering is a sub-discipline of civil engineering concerned with the behavior of earth materials. By understanding the principles of soil and rock mechanics, Al Jazzar engineers evaluate the subsurface conditions at our project sites, and determine the suitability of site conditions for earthwork and foundation construction. Most construction sites require geotechnical services to move forward safely and cost effectively. Al Jazzar engineers conduct subsurface explorations to evaluate subsurface soil, rock and groundwater conditions at the site, evaluate foundation design and support requirements for the project. Our engineers evaluate existing site conditions, existing structures at the site, the nature of uncontrolled fills, response of the site when earthquake, estimation of settlement for structure loading, slope stability, and other challenges during preliminary design. Our engineers work with the design team members during final design to prepare plans and specifications. Our field geologist, technicians and engineers work with both the contractor and design team during construction to confirm subsurface conditions are consistent with those anticipated during design, resolve questions and issues that arise during construction, and to observe building foundations, retaining walls, earth fills, roads, tunnels, and other geotechnical-related project works are constructed as indicated in the contract documents.
